Danby - Mt. Tabor Veterans Memorial

The Memorial was built and is maintained by Danby-Mt. Tabor Now, a non-profit organization dedicated to "celebrating all that is great

in our towns." In addition to the memorial, we sponsor many community programs.  See below for past events.

The veterans of the two communities of Danby and Mt. Tabor are remembered on the Veteran's Memorial located at the juncture of Mt. Tabor Avenue and Main Street in Danby village. The creation of the memorial was originally the vision of Danby resident Richard Carter.

Bringing that vision to fruition involved the generous help and support of many community members and businesses over a period of several years. In an initial step, the old post & beam house that occupied the site was disassembled in order for work on the memorial to begin, culminating in the dedication of the completed memorial on October 16, 2016. (see time-lapse video of the house deconstruction HERE)

Access lists of all the veterans memorialized on the monument, by time period:

The Danby-Mt. Tabor Veterans Memorial is an ongoing project, the future maintenance of which has been

taken on by Danby-Mt. Tabor NOW. This group of community-minded residents is asking for volunteers to contribute to several areas of the memorial's maintenance; the details of the volunteer project are outlined HERE.

DMTNow sponsors events throughout the year, including Memorial and Veteran's Day Observances, the annual town wide tag sale, trunk or treat Halloween event, a summer concert and a holiday sing-along/concert.  Photos of past events can be found HERE.

Our latest project was renovating the town sign on Route 7, inviting visitors to explore historic Danby Village - click HERE to see pictures.
